A SUCCESSFUL STORY
In 1989, Dr. Li He-Shun, a
prominent Taiwan Traditional Chinese medical doctor,hired 42
leading TCM practitioners, established a Product Research and
Development Institute in China, and embarked on the last stage of
a remarkable personal journey. From this modest beginning grew
Bing Han Ginseng, Asia's largest and most successful
multi-level marketing company. |
HUMBLE ROOTS
Dr. Li He-Shun was born
in a small fishing village on the south-western coast of Taiwan
in the 1950's. He lived most of his chlidhood in abject
poverty with his family. His father had suffered the chronic
"black foot" disease, a common affliction in the
destitute regions of Southeast Asia. There were months when he
didn't have shoes to wear, and he often went to school
hungry. His clothes were torn hand-me-downs from neighbours.
These were hard days in Taiwan, when oxen were still a common
sight on the roads. Taiwan had barely begun recovering
economically after severing ties with many first world countries.
Families like Mr. Li's were geographically isolated,
impoverished, and the first to be hit by events beyond their
control. There was no security in his family's day-to-day
existence.
Unable to provide either the proper food or medicine for
themselves, the family slowly starved. His mother died of disease
when Dr.Li was still a teenager. Soon after her death, Dr. Li
left to make a better life for what remained of his family. He
wanted to develop a product that could improve people's
health, and a business that could advance people's financial
status. He felt his most important goal was to promote the
"meaning of life" to others, through his product and
through his company.
A CALLING TO CHINESE MEDICINE
Dr. Li He-Shun was
attracted to Chinese medicine. His mother and father had
essentially worked themselves to death in the service on their
family, so Mr. Li was drawn, naturally enough, to the healing
arts. He wanted to bring health and nutrition to the world, and
he never wanted to see others suffer as his family had. His first
stop was apprenticing at a Chinese Pharmacy. Here he began
learning the intricacies of Chinese herbal medicine and the
philosophy that surrounded the practice. He poured himself into
this ancient science, becoming a true student of natural Chinese
medicines and herbs.
Eventually Dr. Li became a respected professional Chinese medical
practitioner. Within a few short years he was able to open his
own Chinese medical clinic where he practiced traditional
medicine for eight years. But he was not satisfied. Based on his
experience as a practitioner, he became intrigued by the benefits
of ginseng, and began to research this promising field. He saw in
ginseng both a business opportunity and an opportunity at a
genuinely healthier life.
THE BUSINESE BEGINS
Using his own money,
Dr. Li officially launched Bing Han Ginseng in January 1991.
Thereafter he formed Bing Han Enterprises and became its
President. That same year he held the first OPP meeting out of a
small rented office in Tainan with only three people, including
General Manager Ms.Chen Lee-Yu Jacky Chen and Manager Mr Lai
Jang-Yi, in attendance... it was not an auspicious start. But
perseverance reaped rewards, and soon hundreds of enthusiastic
would-be entrepreneurs were lining up to get into Dr. Li's
weekly meetings.
Our President Dr.Li is bringing his message about Bing Han
Ginseng to the world - marrying Asian ginseng with western
business practices; he has become a new world entrepreneur with
an old world work ethic. Today, Dr. Li still finds time to
dedicate himself to public service and numerous charities. His
devotion to various organizations, the love for family, his
successes and principles have gained the respect of everyone in
the company. |
